Summary:    GEMS began operations in 1986 as an independent, non-profit organization providing emergency medical services pursuant to a contract with the Town.   This position is responsible for organizing, directing, and coordinating the fundraising activities for GEMS and the Board of Directors.

Duties:

  1. Under the direction of the Executive Director and Board of Directors, facilitate the creation and implementation of the development goals, which incorporate a range of strategies, including annual appeals, major donors, grants, corporate and individual appeals, social media, and special events.
  2. Coordinate all aspects of the annual fundraising event(s), including vendors, manage sponsorships and ticket sales, determine table assignments, develop materials, draft and oversee all fundraising activities at the event(s).
  3. Develop marketing emails and social media outputs that align with Greenwich EMS’s fundraising initiatives.
  4. Prepare monthly agendas, take minutes at each meeting, and coordinate relevant meetings/conference calls to provide administrative support to the fundraising committee.
  5. Facilitate the organization and implementation of fundraising activities from an individual, foundation, and corporate sources. Key initiatives include: increased identification and cultivation of individual donors with particular focus on redefining and increasing the annual fund and developing major gifts; ongoing efforts to identify and expand corporate and foundation donors and sponsorships.
  6. Contribute to the organization’s overall growth, develop donor revenue goals in a very competitive marketplace, and deliver against fundraising goals cost-effectively.

The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and twist. The contractor must lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds.  Vision sufficient to perform essential functions is required.

Working Conditions:

  1. Flexible working hours, with the expectation of attending meetings and events as needed.
  2. Ability to work remotely, with occasional in-person meetings and event attendance required.

Education and Training:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of communication principles and practices.
  2. Knowledge and experience with event management software i.e. Givesmart
  3. Proficient in the use of various MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and has the ability to use various databases. Experience with Constant Contact and Canva a plus.
  4. Ability to work independently, prioritize, multi-task, and follow through with minimal direction.
  5. Attention to detail, project management skills, and being highly organized a must.
  6. An understanding of and belief in the mission of Greenwich EMS.
  7. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
  8. Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.
