Be prepared when your pet needs you most. Greenwich EMS is a Pro Pet Hero Training Center offering nationally recognized Pet CPR & First Aid training for the community. This course is designed to help participants build the skills and confidence to respond to emergencies involving dogs and cats.
Participants learn how to recognize early warning signs of illness and injury, stabilize a pet, and provide pre-veterinary care in time-sensitive situations. The curriculum includes safety and preparation, pet first aid kits, checking vitals, recognizing normal versus abnormal behavior, illness assessment, injury care, respiratory emergencies, cardiac emergencies, poisoning, allergic reactions, and when to seek veterinary care.
This class is appropriate for beginners and no prior medical training is required. Participants receive documentation of completion, and all training supplies are provided. Training is held at the Greenwich EMS Training Center with hands-on instruction and practical skills practice.
What You’ll Learn
Safety, preparation, and what to keep in a pet first aid kit
How to check vitals and recognize normal vs. abnormal behavior
Illness emergencies such as vomiting, diarrhea, bloat, seizures, fever, and heat or cold exposure
Injury care including bleeding control, bandaging, fractures, burns, shock, and trauma
Respiratory emergencies including choking relief and rescue breathing
Cardiac emergencies including recognizing arrest and performing pet CPR
Poisoning, envenomation, and allergic reactions
When to seek veterinary care and what to do on the way
