Whether you’re a pet parent, pet care professional, or animal enthusiast, this course gives you the skills and confidence to help dogs and cats in an emergency.

What You’ll Learn

Our Pet CPR & First Aid curriculum, developed by veterinary specialist Dr. Bobbi Conner (DVM, Emergency & Critical Care), includes:

  • Safety, preparation, and what to keep in a pet first aid kit
  • How to check vitals and recognize normal vs. abnormal behavior
  • Illness: vomiting/diarrhea, bloat, seizures, fever, heat/cold exposure
  • Injury: bleeding control, bandaging, fractures, burns, shock, trauma
  • Respiratory emergencies: choking relief & rescue breathing
  • Cardiac emergencies: recognizing arrest & performing pet CPR
  • Poisoning/envenomation & allergic reactions (incl. anaphylaxis)
  • When to seek veterinary care — and what to do on the way
