EMT – Emergency Medical Technician

 

Next Class Runs   May 23, 2012 - Aug  9, 2012

This is an entry level program for anyone seeking to work or volunteer on an emergency ambulance. Connecticut’s classes are based on a National Scope of Practice as promulgated by the Federal Department of Transportation. It consists of approximately 155 hours of training including skill performance, didactic presentations, and clinical rotations inside the Greenwich Hospital Emergency Department. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to test for certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

EMR – Emergency Medical Responder This 55 hour course is the same curriculum taught in both police and fire academies. Also known as “First Responders”, this entry level of care is well suited for students seeking to work or volunteer in the emergency sector. This is also the first course is taught to members of the GEMS Explorer Post.
